About meプロフィール
I came to Japan in 2018, and I’ve been teaching English to Japanese learners ever since. My students have ranged from small children to adults, and I’ve taught Eiken preparation and business English.
Before Japan, I taught piano and music theory to children in the UK. Then I worked in Los Angeles as a composer and as technical director on live productions. Music still shapes how I teach: a phrase with a rhythm to it is easier to remember and easier to say out loud.
My lessons are built around speaking. Most learners I meet already know plenty of English. What they’re missing is time to use it, and someone to help them sound natural. So we prepare something you’ll actually need, like a self-introduction or a presentation at work, and you practise it until it feels like your own.
I teach online, one-to-one and in small groups.
2018年に来日して以来、日本の学習者に英語を教えてきました。幼児から大人まで幅広い生徒さんを担当し、英検対策やビジネス英語の指導も行っています。
来日前は、イギリスで子どもたちにピアノと音楽理論を教え、その後ロサンゼルスで作曲家、またライブ制作のテクニカルディレクターとして働いていました。今でも音楽は私の教え方の土台です。リズムに乗ったフレーズは覚えやすく、声にも出しやすくなります。
私のレッスンの中心は「話すこと」です。これまで出会った生徒さんの多くは、すでにたくさんの英語を知っています。足りないのは、それを実際に使う時間と、自然な言い方に整えてくれる相手です。そこで、自己紹介や仕事のプレゼンなど、実際に必要な内容を一緒に準備し、自分の言葉として話せるようになるまで練習します。
オンラインで、マンツーマンと少人数クラスのレッスンを行っています。
